17 Courses of SDU Selected into the First Batch of National Premium Quality Online Open Courses
Amount of Selected Courses Ranks Fifth in China

Recently, the Ministry of Education has released the evaluation result of the 2017 National Premium Quality Online Open Courses. 468 undergraduate courses were selected nationwide, including 17 from SDU which ranks fifth among the 98 universities.

The appraised online courses are Massive Online Open Courses(MOOCs)for full-time undergraduates and students from colleges for professionaltraining. These courses are required to complete more than two sessions of teaching for university students and social learners on the national open courses platform, with a focus on wide-range-learners and abundant demonstration lessons; basic and core courses for majors; cultural quality course for undergraduates; along with innovation, enterprise, and training courses for teachers. The 17 selected courses of SDU are given by the School of Economics, School of Literature, School of Fine Arts, School of Mathematics, School of Physics, School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Material Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Nursing and School of Basic Medical Sciences, covering different subjects, including philosophy, economics, literature, natural science, engineering, medical science and art. The course types include public elementary courses, general education core courses, basic courses for discipline platform, subject foundation courses, subject required courses and innovation and enterprise courses. With a solid foundation, cooperative teams, new teaching methods, good learning effects,high-quality teachingand a sufficient demand, these courses are a showcase of years of teaching reforms at SDU and the achievements of its front-line teachers.

So far, 75 sessions of the 17 courses have been offered on main platforms such as "MOOC of China's Universities", and nearly 1.26 million students have taken them; the courses have been introduced as credit courses by 207 universities and colleges around China, and more than 49 thousand students have gained recognizedearned MOOC academiccredits. Many courses have been selected as "popular courses" by national undergraduates, including Professor Jiang Xiaoyun'sAdvanced Mathematics-Calculusand Associate Professor Wang Zhenya'sEverybody Loves Designing, which were selected among the top 20 most popular courses.
