Recently, "SDU Discovery" Writing/Photo Contest, jointly held by the Department of Publicity and the Department of International Affairs of Shandong University, concluded successfully. After the expert appraisal, 27 international students made them stand out of the competition and won the prizes.

The contest last from October 14 to November 14, 2018. It aroused wide attention from all schools of SDU, and over 70 international students from more than 20 countries including Mongolia, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Lesotho, Ukraine, Nepal, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, etc., have contributed their works. All writings and photos reflect the international students' colorful life in Shandong University, and build a bridge between different cultures.

After the deadline of contributions, the works were collected to the panel of judges from the Department of Publicity, the Department of International Affairs and College of International Education of SDU, as well as SDU international teachers and photographer representatives. Adhering to the principle of equity and fairness, experts on photography scored photos in terms of theme & thought, composition & innovation, visual effect, and shooting angle; while teachers and experts on writing scored essays in terms of theme, structure, expression, and innovative highlights. In the process of expert appraisal, all contributions were anonymized, so as to guarantee fairness.
