Bio:

Prof. George Braine completed his Ph.D. from University of Texas at Austin. He had taught students and teachers from a variety of language backgrounds in Sri Lanka, the Sultanate of Oman, the USA and Hong Kong. His main research interests include second language writing and the development of nonnative speaker English teachers. He was the initiator of the Nonnative Speaker English Teachers Movement and once served as the President of Hong Kong Association for Applied Linguistics (HAAL) and the Chief Editor ofAsian Journal of English Language Teaching(AJELT). At the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he was the Principal Supervisor of the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) as well as the Director of MA Program in Applied English Linguistics. Prof. Braine was Fulbright Scholar and the member of the TOEFL Test of Written English (TWE) Committee. In 2013, he was the recipient of the James Alatis Award from TESOL International, the organization's highest honor.
