Contents of Sayings of the Fathers, including A history of the transmission of the Torah, Guides for judging, Warnings about government, Guides for teaching and learning, Praise for Torah study, General ethical reflections, General philosophical or anti-philosophical reflections. Parallels to the Analects: General features and Specific parallels. There will be a discussion with Professor Fu Youde and Professor Viren Murthy.

Bio:

Samuel Fleischacker is now a Professor of Philosophy in the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He was the founder of Jewish-Muslim Seminar and Director of Center for Religion and Center of Jewish Studies UIC. He once studied at Yale University until he graduated as an outstanding graduate with his doctor’s degree, now working in the areas of moral and political philosophy, the philosophy of religion, the philosophy of enlightenment in Scotland and Kant. Besides, he has many publications.
