The School of Life Science is the home of the National Key Laboratory for Microbial Technology and focuses its research on biology and microbiology.
This school consists of the following institutes: Microbiology, Developmental Biology, Cell and Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Ecology and Biodiversity. Microbiology is a National Key Laboratory. Plant Cell Engineering and Germplasm Innovation is the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education. Animal Cells and Developmental Biology is a Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory. Fermentation Engineering and Developmental Biology are Shandong Provincial Key Disciplines. The school also contains a university Key Laboratory for Ecology and Biodiversity.
The school offers undergraduate programs in Bioscience, Biotechnology, Ecology, and Bioengineering; master's degrees in Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Ecology, Microbiology, Fermentation Engineering, Biophysics and Biological Engineering; and doctoral degrees in Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Ecology, Microbiology, Fermentation Engineering, Biophysics, Marine Biology, and Genomics and Bioinformatics. In addition, there are Microbiology and Biology Post-Doctoral Research Stations in this school.
