The opening ceremony of the Art Exhibition for the120th Anniversary of Shandong University was held at the Shandong Art Museum in Jinan, Shandong province, on Oct 14.The exhibition will run until Nov 7.

Leaders of Shandong University as well as professional artists and government officials participated in the ceremony.

Yan Ping, vice-chairman of the China Artists Association, extended her genuine congratulations to the 120th anniversary of Shandong University and gave high praise to the achievements of the Fine Arts School of Shandong University over the years.

Wang Qilong, executive vice president of Shandong University, said in his speech that the artworks at the exhibition are a reflection of Shandong University students’ responsibility and innovation.

The exhibition includes four themed areas: art creations on Shandong University's history, collections of famous masters, teaching achievements in art, and special works of calligraphers and artists. More than 200 artworks are on show.

One highlight of the exhibition is the 12 portraits of historical figures in Shandong University which were created by Fan Zeng, a renowned Chinese painting and calligraphy master. Fan is also the honorary dean of the Fine Arts School of Shandong University.
