SDU Delegation Visits Universities in Singapore, Thailand to Expand Cooperation

Han Shenghao, vice-president of Shandong University (SDU), led a delegation to visit Singapore and Thailand to expand inter-university cooperation and multilateral exchanges from March 7 to 15.

During his visit to Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Han delivered a keynote speech entitled "Promoting Innovation through Integration and Cultivating High-Quality Talents for the Future" at the 7th Tan Chin Tuan Foundation (TCTF)-NTU Advanced Leadership Development Forum on March 8, and shared how SDU is implementing innovation-driven strategies and cultivating talents.

Furthermore, the delegation held meetings with Joseph Sung, dean of NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Lam Khin Yong, vice-president of NTU, Lien Siaou Sze, vice-president and chairman of the Confucius Institute at NTU and other representatives. They engaged in in-depth discussions on enhancing cooperation in fields such as student training, research and Chinese education.

The delegation also visited the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the Singapore Office of the World Bank and the National University of Singapore. SDU has reached an agreement with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) on joint training of top-notch students in basic disciplines, scholar exchanges and inter-school cooperation. Both sides explored opportunities to launch high-end talent training projects with the Singapore office of the World Bank, and SDU joined hands with the National University of Singapore to establish characteristic international summer schools, teacher courses and training for professionals in the future.

The delegation also visited Thammasat University and the Confucius school at Suankularb Wittayalai School in Thailand and attended the 2023 Annual Conference of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education.

As a result of this visit, SDU and Thammasat University have reached an agreement to continue their collaboration in such fields as Chinese studies and international Chinese education.
