The Shandong International Culture Communication Base for Overseas Chinese was unveiled on Dec 17 at the Center for Research and Experience of Traditional Chinese Culture at Shandong University (SDU).
Li Xingyu, chairman of the Shandong Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Han Shenghao, vice-president of SDU, jointly unveiled the base.
The communication base is expected to explore and promote sharing of the cultural resources in the province, Li said.
The purpose of establishing the communication base at SDU is to encourage both the Shandong Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and SDU to cooperate on domestic and foreign cultural exchange activities, boosting Chinese education, and introducing overseas talents, Li added.
Focusing on Qilu culture, the communication base will hold various cultural activities to meet the needs of overseas Chinese who are interested in inheriting and spreading Chinese culture, Han said.
The communication base will also play an important role in SDU's cultural transmission, talent cultivation, academic research and social services, Han added.
Attendees to the unveiling ceremony reached an agreement that via the communication base, the prosperous Chinese culture should be fully explored and become the spiritual bond that unites overseas Chinese.
