On April 14, Zhang Yun, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and Professor Yang Qifeng, both work at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University (QLU), were selected to Elsevier's list of 2021 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers.
It was Zhang's seventh time and Yang's second time to be named as most cited Chinese researchers.
The list included 4,701 globally influential Chinese researchers in various fields from 523 Chinese universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions. A total of 243 elected Chinese researchers specialize in the field of clinical medicine.
The list of Highly Cited Chinese Researchers for 2021 covered 84 first-level disciplines from the Ministry of Education's 10 fields of disciplines.
The term "highly cited researchers" refers to researchers who have been cited most as first authors and corresponding authors among all Chinese mainland researchers in their disciplines.
The honor signifies that they have international clout in their fields of research, and that their scientific achievements have made significant contributions to the advancement of their fields.
