Shandong University inaugurated the statues of Hou Pao-Chang and Lao She on its Baotuquan campus in Jinan on June 17.
The unveiling of the two statues, which were designed by Shang Changhong, a professor from Shandong University of Art and Design, comes as part of a string of activities to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Shandong University.
Hou Pao-Chang, the late professor of pathology at Cheeloo College of Medicine affiliated to SDU, formed a close friendship with Lao She who taught here from 1934 to 1936. Lao She is a noted writer who is best known for his novel Rickshaw Boy.
Sang Xiaomin, director of the publicity department of SDU, and Yan Jingwu, an alumnus of the university and donator of the two statues, addressed audiences at the unveiling ceremony.
