The final round of the 14th Shandong University (SDU) Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction kicked off at the school's Xinglongshan campus on April 22.
Themed on "Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, Green Energy", the competition received a total of 164 works from 36 colleges in the preliminary stage, with 75 entries selected for the final, including 23 in the energy group, 20 in the mechanical group, and 32 in the comprehensive group. A total of 15 works received special awards and 26 won first prize awards.
Cao Xianqiang, assistant to the president of SDU and dean of the Undergraduate School, said in his speech that the competition is of great significance to promote the interdisciplinary integration of SDU's professional disciplines and the all-round training of talents. He expressed optimism that SDU students will apply their intelligence and take concrete steps to advance China's dual carbon goals.
Li Hengsuo, general manager of Linuo Paradigma, encouraged students to study hard to become the vanguard in the field of national scientific and technological innovation, as well as to act as pioneers in the "green energy revolution".
Sun Fengzhong, executive chairman of the competition's review committee, said students should choose research topics centering on energy conservation and emission reduction, as well as illustrate the feasibility of their researches based on data analysis.
During the competition, contestants introduced their works from the aspects of background, core design, innovation, and feasibility. Each entry was closely related to the country's major needs, such as energy transformation and the dual carbon goals, demonstrating its positive influence on energy conservation and emission reduction like economic and environmental benefits.
