On June 9, Shandong University (SDU) inaugurated a Major Themed Art Exhibition at the Zhixin Building on its central campus. The event was graced by the presence of Li Shucai, President of Shandong University, and Yan Ping, Vice chairman of Chinese Artists Association
The exhibition consists of two sections, displaying 37 pieces that depict the university's rich history and scientific research achievements. Through its notable historical figures and anecdotes, the exhibition captures the essence of SDU in the medium of art.
During his address, Li spoke of his aspirations for the university's art department and students to deeply understand the theme of China's resurgence, conveying SDU's spirit and stories in outstanding artworks.
Following the opening ceremony, a thematic art creation seminar took place, featuring a keynote speech by Yao Yundong, deputy curator of Shandong Art Museum. He praised the exhibition for establishing a novel art-education integration model to serve the society through artistic beauty, cultivating emerging talents, and preserving SDU's traditions. Experts lauded this new approach, which merges art, history, culture, aesthetics, and moral education.
Dean An Ning from the School of Art at SDU emphasized the exhibition's significant role in improving the college's professional traits, contributing to the progress of a premier Double First-Class university, and fostering integrated development. Dean An affirmed the exhibition's potential to inspire SDU members to shoulder the responsibility of building a stronger nation.
