In celebration of the 30th World Book and Copyright Day, Shandong University organized a "Reading Together with the President" event at its Baotuquan Campus on April 23. President of Shandong University Li Shucai attended the event, engaging in reading classic books with faculty members and students.
Students from disciplines such as arts, sciences, engineering, and medicine, shared their reading lists and discussed their reflections on reading based on their professional expertise and personal experiences.
Addressing the event, Li emphasized the significance of books as bridges connecting the past and present, as well as tools for facilitating international dialogue. He highlighted how reading enables individuals to draw wisdom from the ancients, engage in conversations with great scholars, broaden their perspectives, and cultivate a generous spirit.
He encouraged students to be good readers, read good books, and read assiduously to strengthen their ideals and beliefs, gather momentum for progress, and advance steadily in the new era.
Li expressed the university's commitment to nurturing talents, and pledged to continue innovating educational models, and providing a sound environment for students to foster innovative thinking and learning capabilities.
