On March 28, the 5th "Belt and Road" Education Dialogue commenced in Jinan, hosted by the China National Academy of Educational Sciences and organized by Shandong University (SDU). The forum convened prestigious educational and research delegates from nations such as Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Singapore to address the transformative role of artificial intelligence in global schooling systems under the theme "Educational Transformation and International Collaboration in the Age of Artificial Intelligence".
During the opening ceremony, Wu Zhen, executive vice-president of SDU, emphasized that AI is fundamentally reshaping the global educational ecosystem. He expressed the university's commitment to collaborating with international partners to explore innovative pathways for AI-enabled learning, aiming to build a more cohesive "Belt and Road" educational community.
The keynote sessions featured distinguished scholars who offered diverse perspectives on systemic reforms in the digital era. Experts analyzed the evolving missions of education, discussing how to reshape institutional frameworks, curricula, and teaching methodologies to foster student thinking that transcends machine intelligence.
Following the main forum, participants engaged in intensive themed seminars. Discussions centered on the practical application of large-scale AI models in the classroom, the role of schools in a digitized society, and the importance of social-emotional learning. This high-level exchange successfully fostered a deeper mutual understanding of how countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative can collectively navigate the challenges and opportunities of the AI revolution.
