From May 22 to 24, the Global Competence and Governance Multidisciplinary Youth Dialogue was held at Shandong University (SDU). The event served as a strategic platform for developing talent capable of navigating complex international affairs.
In his opening address, Chen Hongwei, Deputy Secretary of the SDU Party Committee emphasized that the dialogue highlighted the university's commitment to interdisciplinary talent development. He encouraged students to broaden their global perspectives and hone the skills necessary to participate in global governance and effectively tell China's stories.
Ma Wen, dean of the School of Foreign Languages and Literature, further highlighted the school's efforts in building multi-dimensional competency systems through diverse academic pathways.
The forum featured three primary segments: keynote speeches, a faculty-led forum on talent development, and an immersive dialogue for youth. During these sessions, experts examined global governance trends and international organizational needs, while 34 student teams presented their research and received professional guidance.
Additionally, an innovative academic poster session facilitated direct interaction between students and scholars, creating a dynamic environment for exchange.
By integrating academic rigor with practical dialogue, the event empowered young leaders to address global challenges and strengthened collaboration between domestic universities in preparing future-ready professionals.
