Shandong University (SDU) hosted a workshop on International Chinese Language Education on July 13, which was organized by the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching. Chinese language education experts and teaching professionals gathered to discuss innovation in curriculum development and teaching practices.

The five-day workshop focuses on curriculum innovation and the improvement of teaching capacity in international Chinese language education. It features keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, demonstration classes, teaching workshops, and group discussions, providing participants with opportunities to exchange ideas and explore practical approaches to language education.

At the opening ceremony, Wu Zhen, Executive Vice President of SDU, stated that the university has long been committed to international Chinese language education and has developed programs combining language learning with cross-cultural communication. SDU aims to strengthen cooperation with education organizations and partner institutions to further advance international Chinese language education.

Other experts highlighted the need to develop more effective and practical teaching methods to meet the diverse demands of Chinese language learners worldwide. They also emphasized the role of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs, and language corpora, in enhancing teaching capabilities and developing a knowledge framework rooted in China's educational practice.

The workshop attracted 69 teaching professionals from 37 universities across China. Experts from leading universities shared insights on curriculum reform, teaching standards, research application, and professional development for educators.

Launched 14 years ago, this annual workshop has grown into a major platform for Chinese language educators to share experience and examine new trends in the discipline.
