Shandong University (SDU) recently organized a youth exchange program, inviting students from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to explore Shandong's industrial advancement and cultural heritage through a combination of field visits, lectures, and hands-on activities.

Held from July 11 to 17, the program focused on Shandong's industrial development landscape, with 25 teachers and students from universities in Taiwan taking part in the exchange.

Through seminar discussions and on-site learning, participants gained insights into the province's manufacturing strengths, technological innovation, and industrial upgrading.

During the seven-day program, students visited nine enterprises and multiple cultural venues in Jinan, Zibo, and Qingdao, exploring traditional industries, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies. They learned about the preservation and revitalization of industrial heritage, experienced traditional craftsmanship by making local specialties, and visited modern facilities, including automobile factories, high-speed railway enterprises, as well as automated port terminals.

The program also featured four lectures on topics such as manufacturing innovation and the development of China's high-speed rail industry. Experts elaborated on how traditional industries achieve sustainable growth by integrating technological upgrates, cultural creativity, and innovative business models.

At the closing ceremony, participants presented their research findings through posters and group presentations, sharing their insights and reflections.

By combining academic learning with immersive field practice, the program provided a new platform for young people to understand industrial development and deepen cross-Strait youth exchanges.
