Shandong University (SDU) recently concluded its 2026 summer school, which began in July and offered courses covering general education, professional studies, and academic exchange, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship.
International instruction was a major component. Scholars from overseas universities, including Bond University in Australia, delivered courses on research methods, literature reviews, data analysis and academic writing. Research for Health Professionals, organized by SDU's School of Nursing and Rehabilitation, has been recognized as an outstanding summer school program for several consecutive years.
The program also emphasized engineering practice. At the School of Integrated Circuits, students worked through the full design process for a two-stage operational amplifier as part of a chip-design course. Training organized by the School of Control Science and Engineering covered analog electronics, signal conditioning, power-supply design, data acquisition and embedded control to prepare students for the National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest.
Beyond the classroom, a summer program in Jiangsu's Suzhou focused on innovation and entrepreneurship took students to technology companies and research institutes to gain insights into artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing and the digital economy.
Interdisciplinary learning was another focus. A program in national park management integrated classroom study with field visits, ecological governance studies and case analysis. Students visited production sites, ecological governance projects and cultural heritage sites.
Courses centered on Dream of the Red Chamber and cooking also gave students opportunities to explore traditional culture, develop practical skills and appreciate the beauty of everyday life.
