Fredlande Lavaud: Diary in Shandong University
Date and Time: 2018-05-16 18:57:11

Today I got called to the student affairs office of my school, College of International Education. The teacher told me that the school got a praise letter. It is from Miss Mona Wong in Shanghai to express her gratefulness towards me.

During the May Day holiday we had recently, I traveled to Shanghai with my good friend Mily. The day we were returning back to Jinan, a lady bumped into me in the line at the train station, and instead of apologizing she told me she lost her daughter, a 7-year old girl. When she said that, it really shocked us and actually frightened me because there was so many people everywhere. I immediately asked her about the clothes that her daughter was wearing and we began looking for the girl. I started questioning every person I saw with a kid by their side with pink shirts to ask if they were lost but they weren't. I walked down such a distance I felt like it was gonna be impossible to find a little girl in this crowed until I saw a little girl crying talking to a different lady. I ran to her and ask her: "You are looking for your mom?" She nodded her head yes and then I grabbed her by the arm and ran back all the way up to the mom's direction. When the lady saw her daughter, the long hug they had, the relief in her face was priceless. Afterwards we made proper introductions, I met Miss Mona's husband and we are both glad to had found their daughter Miranda. They thanked me a million times, exchanged numbers and I left.

When I finally got in the train, I couldn't stop thinking about that family being together after such scary moments. How happy they were when I brought their daughter back to them.

This experience was the best experiences I have had ever since being studying at the College of International Education, SDU. So far. I am so glad to have been at the right place at the right time. That day I have had the feeling of happiness. No matter where you are, no matter how culture differs, helping someone is the best feeling in the world. It is very satisfying. To be honest I can't really use words to express the feelings that I have in my heart. I feel happy, I feel honored. I feel amazing. I feel warm hearted. It makes me willing to keep doing more and more good things and expect nothing in return. I hope I will be lucky, learn more and get more during my study at Shandong University.
